John P. Anderson, 91, of Riverwoods, passed away January 4, 2013. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army. During his years of service he traveled extensively through the Far East and lived in various locations throughout Europe, particularly Germany. Since his retirement, John has enjoyed watching animals from his home in the woods and participating in men’s clubs and seniors clubs. He also started his own business, Anderson Premiums, where he enjoyed working for over 20 years. Beloved husband of the late Betty; cherished brother of the late Margaret (the late Ralph) Swanson; loving uncle of George (Sharon) Swanson, Steven (Lynette) Swanson, Jay (the late Tom) Shanahan and the late Peter Swanson; and dear great and great-great uncle of many nieces and nephews. John is also survived by many wonderful in-laws. A special thanks to his caregiver, Zophia. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 9th from 9:00 am until time of funeral mass 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church, 724 Elder Ln., Deerfield, IL. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
